Canva has many keyboard shortcuts that can be used to edit, move, and manipulate text. Here are 12 of the most useful and easy Canva keyboard shortcuts for text that I could find!
Keyboard shortcut for text box
Simply press the letter “T” on your keyboard and a text box will magically appear!

Canva keyboard shortcut for bold text
I’m sure you know this one already since it can be used globally across most platforms, but I figured I’d add it anyway just in case!
All you need to do is hold the control button while pressing the letter, “B”.

Keyboard shortcut for italic text
Here’s another no-brainer easy keyboard shortcut for you. Want to turn your text italic? Instead of navigating to the toolbar at the top of your screen, just hold the control button on your keyboard before clicking the letter, “I”. Simple!

Canva keyboard shortcut for underline text
Want to underline a portion or all of your text? There’s no need to add a line from the element toolbox. Instead, all you need to do is, hold control and press the letter, “U”.

Keyboard shortcut for uppercase text

Simply hold control, shift, and the letter “R” to align all the text in a text box to the right.

Like the Beyoncé song, align all your text “to the left, to the left”.

This is a super useful and easy Canva keyboard shortcut for you! Press and hold control, alt, and the letter “C” to copy the style of a text box.
This shortcut will copy your font type, size, letter spacing, and line height. Thus saving you a boatload of time if you were planning on doing it manually.

If you need a circle or two or twenty, this easy Canva keyboard shortcut makes it a piece of cake!
Press the letter “C” however times you need.

Keyboard shortcut for line
I used to navigate and search for lines in Canva’s element toolbox before I discovered this awesome trick.
Press the letter “L” on your keyboard and a line will magically appear before your eyes.

After you’ve copied a text box or element, it’s time to paste it! Control plus the letter “V” pastes it for you seamlessly.
This basic keyboard shortcut works globally on every platform, whether it’s a Word document, Facebook status update, or Canva template.

Everyone makes mistakes! Instead of navigating to the undo button with your mouse, all you gotta do is hit control and the letter “Z”.

Keyboard shortcut to redo
Undo too much of your design? That’s alright. Press and hold the control button, the shift key, and the letter, “Z”.

This easy keyboard shortcut is one that’s especially useful because it not only saves you a few mouse clicks but can also save you from copying and pasting individual elements.
When you want to duplicate an entire page, all you need to do is press control and the letter, “D”.

Save yourself a few extra clicks, by pressing control and the “+” sign on your keyboard.
This shortcut will effortlessly zoom into your design.

Whoops! Did you zoom in too far?

Do you have multiple layers stacked on top of each other? There’s no need to use your mouse to manually move each layer out of the way to find the bottom layer.
Instead, move the layer forward by pressing and holding control and the “]” button.

Do you have multiple layers stacked on top of each other? There’s no need to use your mouse to manually move each layer out of the way to find the bottom layer.

If you ever need to group all of your elements together, you can easily press the control button and the letter, “A” to select everything in your design.
Sometimes when you use your mouse to do this, a few elements may be left behind which can cause a headache when you go to move your design.

With two or more elements selected, press control and the letter, “G” to group them together.

Canva shortcut to add a page
If you need to add additional pages to your current design, you can easily do so by pressing the control and the enter button.

This easy Canva shortcut gets a lot of use when I’m designing.
By pressing the shift button and any of the arrow keys on your keyboard, you can effortlessly move elements around your design by ten pixels.

Canva shortcut to move elements by one pixel
There are tons of easy Canva keyboard shortcuts, but this one is my favorite, for sure.
While designing, press any of the arrow keys to move each element one pixel at a time.
This is especially useful if you’re trying to line up textboxes or elements in a certain way that Canva doesn’t allow you to do with your mouse.

Canva shortcut: Deselect element
Select a bunch of elements by mistake? No problem!
Hit the escape key on your keyboard to reverse it.

Canva shortcut to refresh page
Sometimes, like with most web-based platforms, you need to refresh the website page when it gets hung up or stops working properly.
This doesn’t happen on Canva very often, but if it does, you can refresh the page by pressing control and the letter, “R”.

Canva shortcut: Delete
This could be the biggest no-brainer out of all of these easy Canva shortcuts, but I figured I should still include it.
By pressing the delete button on your keyboard, you can remove any element from your design.

Press and hold shift and “?” to search for help within the Canva platform.

Canva shortcut to open and close toolbar
I like to keep my toolbar closed while designing to save space on my screen and see everything I have going on.
Open and close your toolbar in a flash by pressing the control button and the forward-slash button,”/”.

Canva keyboard shortcut for Canva magic toolbox
This is such a helpful keyboard shortcut! Simply press the forward-slash “/” on your keyboard to open the magic toolbox. From here you can easily and more efficiently search for elements, including lines, shapes, emojis, and grids.

As you may know, when you’re creating PDFs in Canva, you have the ability to add links to any of your text or elements. You can now simply press control and the letter “K” to more easily add a link wherever it’s needed.
