Do Pinterest board covers matter?
Let’s be honest — The past few years have been a wild ride and not just with everything going on in the real world, but in the Pinterest marketing world too.
But even with all the changes, Pinterest is still a great place to attract free, organic traffic to your blog or product.
Followers weren’t \important on Pinterest in previous years, but to compete with other platforms and keep more users from clicking off the site, Pinterest is providing 2 incentives to entice creators to jump on the idea pin bandwagon:
- more impressions (showing your idea more often in search)
- more followers (Pinterest shows a follow button after your idea pin finishes and users can click on your logo to view your profile)
So what does any of this have to do with Pinterest board covers?
Similar to crafting eye-catching Pinterest pins, creating aesthetically pleasing cover images for each of your Pinterest boards shows the pinner clicking over to your profile that you’re a professional. You care about your branding and took the time to make it attractive.
All that to say, Pinterest board covers matter more now than ever.

How to change Pinterest board covers
Now that you have your tailored-to-your-brand board covers made, it’s time to get them uploaded and added to your Pinterest profile.
Simply click the “Create Pin” link at the top of your Business Hub and upload each board cover image as individual pins.
Should you add a title, description, and link? — I like to add a title, description, and link that directs to the board itself since they’ll likely still show up on the home feed.
Save each of your Pinterest board covers to their corresponding board, otherwise, this would have all been for naught.

I am a verified merchant on Pinterest, so my “create a pin” screen may look different from your own.
After all of your board covers are uploaded to each of your Pinterest boards, head over to your Pinterest profile’s “Saved” tab.
Click the tiny pencil in the right-hand corner of each board and select the board cover image that you saved to that specific board.
Ta-da! You’ve now changed Pinterest board covers!
